The Cubiko is the only desktop CNC under $500 that comes fully assembled with an enclosure, auto Z-probing, height mapping, WiFi, and an offline screen controller. That feature set would have cost $1,000+ just a few years ago. SainSmart packed a lot into a small, affordable package.

The machine cuts wood and acrylic with clean, precise results. PCB milling works well with the auto height map. Foam cutting is fast and fun. Aluminum is possible but slow — plan for hours, not minutes.

The main trade-off is the small 150×110mm work area. If you want to make signs, cutting boards, or furniture parts, this machine is too small. But for coasters, jewelry, stamps, PCBs, and small decorative items, it is perfect.

Long-Term Update

6-Week Follow-Up (July 2026)

After 60+ hours of cutting, the Cubiko shows no signs of wear. All three axes still move smoothly. The spindle has not developed any unusual noise. The enclosure panels are intact. The screen still works perfectly. The only maintenance needed was vacuuming chips from the base groove after every few jobs and a single application of oil on the lead screws. I will post a 6-month update once I get there.
